# Rice Krispie Treats

Crispy, chewy, and ready in under 20 minutes. Butter, marshmallows, and puffed rice cereal — nothing more needed.

## Ingredients

- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 10 oz mini marshmallows (about 6 cups; one standard bag)
- ¼ tsp fine salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

## Instructions

1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter or nonstick spray and set aside.
2. Melt the 3 tbsp unsalted butter in a large pot over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until fully melted.
3. Add the 10 oz mini marshmallows to the pot and stir constantly until completely melted and smooth, about 4–5 minutes. Remove from heat immediately.
4. Stir in the 0.25 tsp fine salt and 1 tsp vanilla extract until combined.
5. Add the 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal all at once and fold quickly with a silicone spatula until every piece is evenly coated.
6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Using lightly buttered hands or a buttered spatula, press the mixture into an even layer — firm enough to hold shape, but don't compress too hard or the treats will be dense.
7. Let the pan sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes until fully set, then cut into 12 squares and serve.

## Tip

> Pull the pot off the heat the moment the marshmallows are fully melted — residual heat from the burner will continue cooking them, making the treats stiff and hard instead of soft and chewy.
