Tender green beans in a creamy mushroom sauce, topped with a crispy fried onion crust that shatters with every spoonful.

Prep: 10 min · Cook: 35 min · Total: 45 min · Yields: 8 servings

## Ingredients

- 2 cans cut green beans (14.5 oz each, drained)
- 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
- ¾ cup whole milk
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- 1 ⅓ cups French fried onions (from a 6 oz can, divided)

## Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F (175 °C) and lightly grease a 1.5-quart baking dish.
2. In the baking dish, whisk together the 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup, 0.75 cup whole milk, 1 tsp soy sauce, 0.25 tsp black pepper, and 0.25 tsp garlic powder until smooth.
3. Add the 2 cans drained green beans and 0.67 cup of the French fried onions to the dish; stir until everything is evenly coated.
4. Spread the mixture into an even layer and bake uncovered for 25 minutes, until the sauce is bubbling around the edges.
5. Remove from the oven and stir the casserole gently to redistribute the sauce.
6. Scatter the remaining 0.67 cup French fried onions evenly over the top.
7. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5–10 minutes, until the onion topping is deep golden and crisp.
8. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving so the sauce tightens slightly.

## Tip

> Stir half the fried onions into the filling rather than saving them all for the top — the buried onions meld into the sauce and add savory depth, while the top layer stays crisp.
